i <3 cabbageEntry #630 I said I'd post again once I figured out wht I was going to do, job-wise... and I have. The paper called me and the figure had risen enough for me to consider it. After a talk with Adam, we decided to go for it. I accepted and I start Monday morning. Starting a new job is nerve-wracking. But at least I feel pretty qualified for this one, i.e. I won't be asking too many questions after the first week or so, and the ones I DO ask will be along the lines of "Where's the bathroom?" At least that's my guess; I might jinx myself if I say I officially believe that will be the case. After accepting the job, I did an apartment search. The first place I inquired about was posted on Craigslist, was only $500/month, and was just a hop, skip and jump away from work, which works out since I'll be sans wheels for a little while. I emailed the poster late one night and the next morning was woken up by the phone ringing. It turned out the owner of the place is none other than my sister's old school friend, Blaire! We met up at the apartment later that night and I checked it out. It's an attic apartment, which means the ceiling slopes on both sides and makes it smaller than it already is. The living room has this horrid old green carpet, and the bedroom a boring blue carpet, which was a disappointment. The windows are also pretty tiny and don't let in much light. The good thing, though, is that I still got a good vibe about it despite these things. It's on my favorite street in town, and has a great view of downtown... hills and hills of trees in the background and buildings and parking lots closeby... the best of both worlds. It's got electric heat, which is great since oil and gas are more expensive... and since it's tiny and on the 3rd floor, it shouldn't cost too much to heat this winter, which was a major concern of mine. It's also got a nice looking backyard that Blaire said we can share with her and her fiance, and a deck we can chill on (officially Blaire's, but we have permission to use it, too.) Garbage pick-up is free, and so is water. We only pay for heat and to heat the water, the costs of which are included in our electricity bill. I took pics and emailed them to Adam, and he liked the place. I told Blaire we wanted it, and she's letting us have it. So we've basically got most of the bases covered. I even bought a bunch of apartment-y things today (welcome mat, wall clock, pots and pans, knives, pepper mill and salt shaker, etc.) He gave notice at his job today and his boss expressed and interest in having him freelance from home, which if her boss allows, will hopefully take care of the Adam-finding-a-job concern. So all is gooooooood. ----- I actually cooked today... one of my favorite meals, New England Boiled Dinner. We didn't have corned beef, so I used ham, which I like better anyway. Added some cabbage, halved and peeled potatoes, and carrots, and it was done in 3.5 hours (the ham was frozen.) I have to say, it was my best culinary effort to date. And man oh man, do I love cabbage.
"And The Elfin saw the evil and misjudgement in the world and shot her arrow at the sky. Bolts of lightning struck the earth and gave the world balance and growth." Some examples of the Elfin Form are Demeter (Greek) and Khepry (Egyptian). The Elfin is associated with the concept of growth and balance, the number 6, and the element of water. Her sign is the half moon.
As a member of Form 6, you are a very balanced individual. You can easily adapt to most situations and you may be a good social chameleon. You aren't afraid of changes in your life, but sometimes you evolve too rapidly, leaving others to think that you are leaving them behind. Elfin are the best friends to have because they are open minded.
