Undertow

by

Amar

He played about on the beach,
As I pondered our grief.
Frolicking as the water pulled at his feet;
He laughed and dug his toes into the sand.

He was praying on the ground.
I gave a frown as the sky came down,
I was blinded by the sound.
Defiantly, I chose to grow.
And I didn't realize it
But the child was lost in the undertow.
