Oblivion Issue #10

Josh Gilbert

We dedicate this issue of Oblivion to the memory of Josh Gilbert, founder and President of the Canadian Youth Rights Association and Oblivion contributer, among other things, who ended his life this past April. Like many of us, Josh was a contrarian, rallying against the lemming-like nature of today's apathetic society. Unfortunately, Josh also suffered from loneliness and severe bouts of depression, and in the end, death was easier for him than life. That was his decision to make and we're all forced to respect that, but it still hurts.

Along with the dead, we dedicate this issue to the living. For those suffering through your own private hell, we don't really have any great solutions, but maybe you'll find a little joy in what we're doing. Maybe this zine will bring a subversive smile to your face, at least for a little while. Maybe these pages will make you want to live another day.

Josh left behind an 8mm video and his last words to all of us were: "Stay healthy. Be well."

So long, Josh.
