Making decisions is always difficult. For instance, deciding who to vote for in today’s Student Council Elections. In case you were distracted during the election assembly, HTP decided to ask every candidate up for an elected, senior position why they think you should vote for them. Their answers are spread out over the next few pages.

PRESIDENT

Matt Campagna - Blues Brothers

MC: People will elect me because I'm responsible and I can do a good job. Unlike most other people I can think of.

HTP: What are your plans for next year?

MC: I gotta keep that classified otherwise my competitors get in the way.

HTP: What do you think of DX?

MC: Since pretty much everybody else in my party is running against a member of them, I definitely think I have some showmanship to best them. I can outshow DX because I have the plan. (Editor’s note: this interview was done before the assembly).

Gita Gulati - Girl Power Posse

GG: The reason you should vote for me for school President is that I'm the candidate who actually gives a fuck and actually cares about what goes on in this school and I actually have issues like the fact that people who don't have a student card aren't going to be able to vote for this election and I feel that's really stupid because people who attend this school should be able to vote regardless of whether or not they have purchased their vote. So I guess you should basically say vote for me because I'm the one who actually cares about what's going on.

Jackie Pangilinan - DX Army

JP: Because I'm capable of doing all the work.

HTP: What plans do you have for next year?

JP: I have allot of plans, there in my planner. You want to see them?

HTP: OK.

(We checked, and Jackie does indeed have many plans for spirit days, talent competitions, etc.)

HTP: What do you think of the DX?

JP: Oh, they're all right. I don't really think they're that bad, its just that George is in them. But George is OK.

SENIOR VP

Lawrence "Larry" Corea - Blues Brothers

LC: People should vote for me because I'm going to get the SAC working the way it's supposed to again, where the students give their ideas to the home form reps, and then the home form reps tell the SAC executive, who do their best to make sure the students get what they want.

George Chu - DX Army

GC: Suck it.

HTP: Suck what?

GC: My throbbing mound.

HTP: So are you planning on stealing any money?

GC: No, I don't have to steal money from the SAC - I work. No more questions, what the fuck, get that [tape-recorder] out of my face.

Reena Kathuria - Girl Power Posse

RK: I think you should vote for me because I won't rape you and I won't molest you and I won't touch you and I won't sexually harrass you.

HTP: Are you suggesting some other candidate would do that?

RK: Why would you think that?

TREASURER

Vincent Shiao - Blues Brothers

VS: I'm the only candidate with executive experience as the treasurer of a major school council and that is why you should vote for me. If elected I will bring back the television show MacGuyver and rename the school the MacGuyver institute.

Ginny Li - Independent

GL: um, ah..

Voice in background: Just say you'll be good at it.

GL: I'll be good at it.

Minh Dang - DX Army

MD: This school is a big piece of trash and that's the bottom line because I said so. I'm the badest man on the planet, and if you think so give me an "oh hell yeah."

Voice in background: Oh hell yeah!

MD: You're damn right!

SOCIAL CONVENOR

Shaloo Salva - Blues Brothers

SS: I think people should vote for me because I'm an excellent candidate, I'm hardworking, I have the SAC experience, I know how to make dances better, I have connections to the outside world, and most of all I'm a Blues Brother.

HTP: What do you have planned in terms of dances?

SS: I'm going to try to get in better DJs, I'm going to try to hook up with famous companies like 107.9, 103.5 and I'm going to try to appeal to everyone and not just the R n B crowd.

Sunil "Skippy" Kothary - DX Army

SK: I'll do a good job, I'm energetic, I'm responsible, I'm very social, I like doing all the social events, and I feel that I should be the one in the position.

HTP: What do you have planned in terms of dances?

SK: You can't please everyone, but what I can do is try to make a way to please different groups. We can have different types of jams, one time for a crowd that likes R n B/Hip-Hop and such, another time we can have one that goes for the raves. What we're going to do is we're going to try to set it up so it pleases out for everyone.

Tsun Kit Lo - Independant

TKL: f all your friends jumped off the cliff, you'd jump off the cliff too, because if you did you'd land on their bodies and you know, you'd still be alive. So that's why I'm saying you should vote for me, you shouldn't wait this time, you should go, you should just vote for me the first time.

HTP: What do you have planned in terms of dances?

TKL: A dance at the end of every other month...

Voice in background: What about reggae? I want more reggae.

TKL: If you vote for me you'll get more reggae. If you want metal, you'll get more metal.

Voice in background: Dancehall reggae though. None of that Beanie-Man shit.

TKL: Alright.

SECRETARY

Sara Beckberger - Independent

SB: People should vote for me because I am sweet, and I'm going to do a good job no matter what. Its easy to vote for me, easy as pie.

HTP: What's with all the pie references?

SB: Just something catchy, I didn't intend for people to think of Sara as pie, but that's what happened. I'm not complaining.

Kelly Oh - Independent

KO: I don't know what to say.

HTP: Just say you'll do a good job. It's not like there's much a Secretary can actually do. Or make a joke, people like jokes.

KO: People like jokes? No, I think I'll do a good job you know. As you said Secretary can't do much, but I'm sure I can help other execs.
