Commentary - What’s Up With Sypowitz?

Sypowitz is screwed up man, I mean what’s his problem? The dude can’t keep his emotions under control. I just can’t understand what the deal is with his “emotional outbursts”. Simone doesn’t seem to have any problems containing his reactions and he works most of the same cases as Sypowitz. I remember one time Simone and Sypowitz were interrogating a guy who had molested his own kid. The molester was a first time offender and would have cracked under standard interrogation and deception but because Sypowitz couldn’t control his rage he let the man know that he liked him and almost blew the whole investigation. It was only Simone’s quick thinking and expert investigation ability that saved the case. What the dilly-yo Sypowitz? Eh? What’s your fucking problem?

Sure the guy has some personal problems but who doesn’t? He ought to leave his difficulties at home so that he doesn’t jeopardize police investigations. Sypowitz’s biggest problem is in investigating child molesters which is understandable but that’s no excuse to attack suspects. Once Sypowitz punched a sexual predator and the predator had an interesting comment about it, he said “You think I’m the monster but I do it because I can’t help myself, You do it because you want to” I think that is a biting comment on Andy Sypowitz’s lack of self control. He isn’t just a danger to investigations but a danger to other officers. If a situation arose where they needed a cool headed officer in a tense situation could they rely on him? Ask yourself, would you trust your life to Andy Sypowitz?
