Girls and Guys

Submitted for Volume 3, Issue 5

The Pogo Commercial- I get pissed off every time I see the pogo commercial. You know, the one where two guys and a girl are eating pogos. Then the girl says, "I like a guy who's shy, handsome.." and then both guys blush, "and with short brown hair". The blonde guy gets upset because he wasn't the guy she liked, and the brown-haired guy gets all cocky. I mean, what the fucks that girls problem? If you didn't like him, you didn't have to rub it in his face. Why not tell the brown-haired guy later on, so you wouldn't hurt the other guy's feelings. Didn't you notice how his expression changed when you revealed who you truly liked? What's worse is this, the blonde haired guy reaches for the last pogo, but the brown-haired guy takes from his reaching hand. What's the brown-haired guy's problem? Can't the blonde guy have the last pogo to dwell in his own sorrow? Isn't the hot chick enough? Why must you take his only pogo, asshole? That's why I don't feel sorry for the brown-haired guy when his mom starts filming with the camcorder. He deserves it, I hope his Mom embarrasses his no-good ass.

Dawson's Creek- I was watching a re-run of Dawson's creek the other day, and it was really good. It was the first time I saw the show, and I really enjoyed it. The episode, however, was a bit disappointing. I mean, what's Dawson doing? Joey likes him and she's hot, and he's known her all this time... yet he still likes Jen. He goes to the trouble of going to the prom, and trying to step into a dance with her. What's Jen got, what's so great about her? This is a situation which I am all too familiar with. Dawson fell in love with someone that he hardly knew because he was after an idealized vision of her. Jen wasn't actually what Dawson was after, he's actually after someone that doesn't exist. If he'd spend some time with her, I bet he'd find out she's a bitch. Joey's better for him, but he doesn't realize it. As he says, "..she's just like you. It's like I've known her all this time..". Dawson, you're such a dummy, you love Joey not Jen. Don't make Joey feel so bad and don't say stupid things. You say Jen is like Joey even though you hardly know her. Don't you see who you're true love is? I think Dawson's Creek is a great show, there's always moral to the story. This episode says to us that we should first get to know somebody before we fall in love, otherwise we'll look like dumb-asses and we'll be embarrassed for the prom. Maybe it also says that we should look around us, because love pops up in the strangest places.
