<p>OBLIVION</p>

<p>Report of the August 21, 2001 Board of Directors meeting.</p>

<p>Present: Luke Bowerman, Isabel Chang, Jason Kende, Ben Livingston, Kristen
Mason. Guests: Gella, Julia, Kathleen, Shira.</p>

<p>The meeting convenes at 9:50 p.m. PDT.</p>

<p><b>SITE REDESIGN</b></p>

<p>Luke is working on a complete overhaul and we need ideas. We all think the
site should be more interactive, with the ability to comment on just about
everything. We don't want to try to "be everything" to our users, we want
to focus on the issues. (Less like Bolt, more like Slashdot.) Here's some
more ideas:</p>

<li>Get the new issue online (Ben will upload a PDF for ya'll to work from)
<li>Move the news to the front page (Luke made this happen)
<li>Youth rights law library (work with ACLU?)
<li>DIY radio, youth-related radio
<li>Comments on a seperate board?
<li>More interactive
<li>Merch: t-shirts, buttons, stickers
<li>News archive: some functions don't work, better editability
<li>Easier ways for folks to contact us and add their skills
<li>Make mailing lists easier to find
<li>We need content writers!
<li>Fix the back issues navigation
<li>Allow anyone to post news (some functions don't work)

<p>Luke will put together some outlines and timelines and generally rock our
world. Luke things we should have a WIKI for development discussions.</p>

<p><b>ZINE & MONEY UPDATE</b></p>

<p>Issue 10 is done. We have about $500 and need about $200+ to print 3,000
issues. Ben will upload a PDF so others can work on getting it on the web.
Jason suggests we ask our friends for $10-20. A bunch of folks are gonna
send in some cash. New York is gonna apply the skills learned from NYPIRG
and send in some cash within three weeks. Ben notes that lawsuits are a
good way to raise cash. Julia suggests we try to get printers to donate
copies. Jason wants to get a PDF and start printing copies. Isabel's been
working on getting high school clubs to television tapings in exchange for
Oblivion money, though it's been a tough go. Ben will figure out final
printing costs and update the board.</p>
