January 26th, 1999 Oblivion Meeting Minutes
	Agenda items: Election of New Board Member Biannual Elections CNN Show Seattle Get Together The Zine The Site Voting Members present at start: Jestapher y0fun etothen Sillyrabbit namgorf martiny Thethinker is absent. Joshua Gilbert (Ticker) has resigned from the Board for personal reasons. 5:35PM PST Jestapher opens the meeting. The board neglects to select a target ending time. Election of New Board Member Etothen introduces the two nominees for this position: Subliminal, and Omnipotent. Omnipotent is not present, but has delegated Sillyrabbit to speak for him. Subliminal is given the floor to introduce himself, talk himself up, and field questions. Sillyrabbit is given the floor to introduce Omnipotent, talk him up, and field questions about him. Voting members send Etothen their votes. The result is a tie. Everyone is dumbfounded. This contingency isn't covered in the bylaws! Jestapher, for the records, says "fuck" and solicits suggestions. Jestapher motions to open voting to all present non-Board members. Etothen seconds. Motion passes. Voting on new Board member opened to all public in attendance. The public sends their votes to Etothen. Subliminal wins. Thinker arrives. His vote doesn't make a difference in the outcome. Target Ending Time Jestapher states that, in all that choas, we forgot to pick a target ending time. Jestapher motions to end at 7:00PM PST. Etothen seconds. Motion passes unanimously. Biannual Elections Silltrabbit explains that he'd like to have BoD elections twice a year, and motions for ongoing discussion of adopting biannual elections. No one seconds the motion. Motion is dropped. No decision is made. CNN Show Sillyrabbit explains that he has a contact at CNN and would like to work with him on doing a segment for Oblivion. Everyone gives Sillyrabbit mad props. The question of what to have on the show is discussed. The Board agrees to further discuss the item through email. No motions are made. Not on Agenda Jestapher gives Etothen the floor. Etothen explains that he is a moron. He missed a nomination emailed to him. Because of this, Caro, who was nominated by thethinker, was not considered for election. He motions to revote, between Subliminal, Omni, and Caro. Motion passes. Caro is given the floor. Before she can talk, etothen interjects. explaining that too many people ahve left for a real vote, and motioning to postpone the voting on all three candidates till the next meeting. Motion passes. Seattle Get Together Sillyrabbit says that he'd like to have an informal Oblivion meeting in Seattle. Everyone agrees, but the big question is money. SillyRabbit explains how he'd raise the money: Proceeds from rythmic nocturnal gatherings. He says he'll have the money by sunday, January 31, 1999. Jestapher says that we can print when we have that money. The Web Site The board agrees to discuss this item further through the mailing list. Jestapher motions to adjourn. Etothen seconds.
